Highlighting Our Team

We have a great team working hard behind the scenes at Huston & Company. We want you to get to meet the people who tend to the various details to build the heirloom pieces. This month we share our gratitude and praise for Myles Keating.

  • How Many Years have you worked in the shop?
Fall 2026 will be 5 years.
  • What drew you to Huston & Co?
How did you hear about the business?
I had a friend that worked for Huston and Company. He connected me with Saer when I was moving to Maine. Once I came to the shop and met with Bill and Saer and saw the work that was done there, I was in! I was drawn to Huston and Company for many reasons. The size of the business felt like a perfect fit, I really enjoy working with everyone, everyday. The quality of work and knowledge that is in the shop is incredible. Lastly knowing that my boss surfs, that’s a big one for me.
  • What aspects of your job do you like the most?
I truly enjoy seeing a piece of furniture that I have made be delivered to its forever home. Watching the owners appreciate the energy and effort I have put into a piece is very satisfying. Knowing that that piece of furniture will stand up to the tests of time and make many memories for the user, that is what keeps me making furniture for Huston and Company.
  • Are there skills used for your job at H & C that you are able to apply to your life outside of the shop?
Absolutely! Problem solving through thoughtful design and execution. That transfers to every part of life and I get enjoyment with that aspect.
  • When not building furniture, how do you fill your time?
Surfing, snowboarding, biking. Working on my old house in Biddeford. Growing flowers in our little backyard flower farm with my wife. Playing with my dogs.
  • Favorite Hobby?
Hands down snowboarding. Surfing is creeping up though.
  • Favorite song?
Always changing. Me More Cowboy Than You by The Brudi Brothers has been my go to currently.
  • Favorite Movie &/or Book?
    Movie: Out Cold.
Book: Endurance: Shackleton’s Incredible Voyage.
Poem: The Lone Trail by Robert Service
  • Spirit Animal?
Not sure on a spirit animal. But, I have always said that if I came back as an animal I would want to be a cormorant. I would love to be able to fly and swim like they do.
  • Two Truths and One Lie:
    • My wife and I got married in New Zealand.
    • I have been to all 50 states.
    • I have summited the tallest mountains of Vermont and Montana.

Anything else that would be helpful for us to know, share, and speak about you?
Always a kid at heart.
