Custom Armoire & Dresser for Huffard House

How would you describe the Huffard House style or aesthetic? What is Huffard House’s design philosophy?
We like to think that we could design for any client, regardless of style preferences. That being said, all of our designs have a common thread of pops of color, some combination of traditional and contemporary design and a commingling of antique and new pieces. Our work tends to be casual, sophisticated, simple, and very functional.

Custom Entryway Table with Walnut Sunburst

Describe your experience working with Huston & Company.
We love working with Huston! We specify custom furniture with some regularity and Huston has been great to work with. Our collaboration has resulted in some really beautiful pieces.

Newton Sideboard and Newton Table. Shown in white oak with Newton finish.

When do you advise your clients to consider custom pieces for their home?
Our best clients are looking for furniture pieces with a story that’s built locally. Custom pieces are one of a kind, they are really pieces of art. It’s fun for us to work with a clients’ vision on one hand and then amazing craftspeople on the other to create beautiful and functional furniture that will last for generations. The result is good for the local economy, good for the earth, something to pass down that came from human hands in Maine.

What are some of your favorite sources for unique, quality items for the home?
A few favorite vendors: O&G Studio, The Beautiful Bed Company, Waterworks, Tabarka Studio, and The Urban Electric Company.

A few local shops: Pillars Antiques, Bradford’s Rug Company, Blanche & Mimi, Folly 101, and Fitz Bennett Home.
