It’s All Working in York

Did you get to the York Decorator Showhouse this weekend? There’s still plenty of time.

This year, The York Decorator Showhouse, an annual event produced by the Old York Historical Society, features the Emerson House, a 1794 Georgian Colonial.

Our friend, Mary O’Neill, was awarded the Home Office as her challenge this year and asked if we could help out with some of her furniture needs. We’ve been lucky enough to work with Mary many times in the past few years on custom designs for her clients and on last year’s showhouse in York.

Mary is a talented and seasoned interior designer from North Andover, MA.

Her challenge this year was considerable. Here’s a picture of her room “before”.

Mary’s interiors are relaxing, clean and light. We had some trouble visualizing her work in this room at the start. We had faith, but we knew she had her work cut out for her.  She chose to use the Prism Round Coffee Table and the Balance Console Table from our Kennebunkport showroom, and we built a Huston Table Desk for her to use as well. There are also two etageres in the room which we created for use in our showroom, but work perfectly with Mary’s design.

The opening of the showhouse was this past Friday, sponsored by Maine Home + Design Magazine. Shortly before the opening reception Mary sent us some photos of the finished room. Wow.

In her room description she writes, “Home offices are becoming more and more popular. People who work from home often spend several hours in an office during the course of a day. A beautifully furnished room with comfortable seating and excellent lighting lends itself to creativity and to success….Each piece in this home office is both functional and beautiful. In a well-designed room, you can always have both.”

We couldn’t agree more.
Nice work Mary. It looks lovely and we’re so proud to be a part of it.

The showhouse is open through August 13.
