A few months ago, we were honored to be asked to design, build and donate a bookcase to hold a full collection of books and audio works by renowned author Dave McCullough, as part of a fundraising event for the Louis T. Graves Memorial Library here in Kennebunkport.

In 1998, a local physician asked Bill Huston to build a small, laptop desk as a Christmas gift for his wife. It was built of cherry, with wenge inlay. It had a slanted top that lifted up to reveal a flat surface underneath and three little compartments for clips and whatnots. The interior surface was built on a wooden hinge, so it too lifted up to uncover another storage space for paper and notebooks. A clever little support was devised to hold the top open.
It’s a beautiful little thing. Just sort of makes you say, “Oh, how sweet.”
This past December, Huston & Company made a change to a new green product for our beautiful furniture finish. Trading in our standard, conversion varnish finish and moving to a new, environmentally friendly version, we have further improved our work environment without compromising on quality.
In 2003, Huston & Company built the furniture for the Paul Pratt Memorial Library in Cohasset, MA. It’s lovely furniture: traditional and warm. The order consisted of 8 study tables, 2 6-station carrels, a display table, an atlas stand, and 66 end panels, 7 canopy tops, a console table and a new book display.
We worked closely with Jane Lucas, then of Lucas Stefura Associates (now Stefura Associates, as Jane has happily retired), and the Head Librarian at the time, Patience Towle. Both ladies have since moved on to new adventures.
We're excited to show you our new photos of the installation of furniture at Sacred Heart University. This was a good sized project, with great designs and resulted in furniture that looks beautiful in the new library and will last for generations.

It’s not often (enough) that we have the opportunity to entertain and do a little show-and-tell here at our shop and showroom in Kennebunkport. But this week we had that opportunity in spades.
The fine folks from Revision Energy were back in action on the morning of February 15, to install our array of 48 solar panels. This was an exciting day at Huston & Company.

At the beginning of February, our friends from Revision Energy came back to install the braces that will hold our new solar panels to the roof.

A wide welcome to the newest addition of talent to our workshop!

No, it isn't spring yet here in Maine. But, as the month of January draws to a close, we see our new solar array on the horizon.
As we near the time when Revision Energy comes to install our new solar array, we are finishing the few bits of prep work needed. We are surprised at how little prep work there actually is, but we decided a few things should be done ahead of time.
